Cantilevered Patio Addition - Desert Mountain, Scottsdale

A custom cantilevered structural steel patio addition for a private residence in Desert Mountain, North Scottsdale. The brief called for a clean, modern overhang that extended outdoor living space without disrupting the home's existing rooflines or sightlines to the surrounding desert. Before a single beam was cut, the existing structure was captured using 3D laser scanning. We then built a full 3D model of the patio addition over the scanned geometry, working alongside the design team to refine the cantilever geometry, connection details, and clearances against the as-built conditions. That extra design step let us catch interferences on screen instead of in the field, and meant every member showed up to site dimensioned to fit the first time. Fabrication was done in-shop to precise tolerances, then trucked to Desert Mountain for crane-set installation. The cantilevered span gives the homeowners an unobstructed outdoor room with no posts blocking the view, and the steelwork is detailed to read as architecture rather than structure.
